Blog 9: Starting Something New

I’ve rewritten this post more times than I’d like to admit. Not because I didn’t know what to say, but because starting something publicly always feels a little uncomfortable. Still, here it is.

I’m beginning my journey as a music artist.

Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, just never in a way I shared openly. It existed in late nights with headphones on, walking through quiet streets, sitting on buses staring out the window, or lying awake when my thoughts refused to slow down. It was something personal, something I turned to when words didn’t quite work.

For a long time, I told myself I wasn’t ready. That I needed more time, more confidence, more proof that it was worth putting out there. But eventually, I realized that waiting for the “right moment” was really just another way of holding myself back.

So I decided to start.

My music blends Bangla and English, not intentionally, but naturally. Some emotions come out clearer in Bangla. Some thoughts arrive in English without effort. I’ve learned to stop questioning that and let the songs take the shape they want. That mix is part of who I am.

Sound-wise, I’m influenced by R&B, Afrobeats, and urban chill pop, especially those late-night, city-inspired vibes. The kind of music you play when everything slows down. When the streets are quieter, but your mind is still awake. I’m drawn to melodies that don’t rush and rhythms that leave space to feel.

Being a Canadian Bangladeshi creative often means living between worlds. Between cultures, languages, and expectations. For a long time, I thought I had to choose one side or fit into a specific box. Music gave me the freedom to exist in that in-between space without explaining myself.

This journey isn’t about chasing numbers, trends, or validation. It’s about expression. About learning the craft. About showing up consistently, even when it feels uncomfortable. I want to create music that feels honest — something people can sit with during a late drive, a quiet walk, or a moment where they just need sound in the background.

I’ll be sharing my music on Spotify and YouTube, and I’ll use this space to talk about the process behind it. The ideas, the doubts, the small wins, and the lessons along the way. Not everything will be perfect, and that’s okay. Growth rarely is.

If you’re reading this at the beginning, thank you. Whether you listen, share, or simply follow along quietly, I truly appreciate you being part of the start. This is new territory for me, but it feels right.

This is the beginning.

From the City to the World.
